Subgrantees
At the close of the 2025 Hackathon Fellowship, five winning solutions were awarded seed grants from a $31,000 pool, distributed on a needs basis. Each team received post-hackathon mentorship and support from SmartGov, and all five completed their pilot implementations by March 2026, delivering functional MVPs, conducting soft launches, and generating validated findings.
Data4Justice
Syrians for Truth & Justice
An interactive tool that maps Syrian laws (2011β2024) affecting fundamental rights and links them directly to documented violations and justice mechanisms. Integrated into the live “Share for Justice” platform, it empowers victims, journalists, and civil society to turn legal opacity into evidence for accountability and justice.
MENA Civic Space Monitor
HuMENA
An AI-powered, bilingual (Arabic/English) civic-space monitor that ingests signals from rights groups, independent media, and official texts; structures incidents with legal tagging; and publishes real-time dashboards, alerts, and briefs, mobilizing defenders, journalists, and communities with actionable evidence for faster protection and effective advocacy.
Himnity
Grassroots Initiative
A civic impact app that empowers citizens to propose ideas, NGOs to adopt and organize events, and communities to track real results. With feedback loops, trusted badges, and monthly storybooks showcasing impact, Himnity builds accountability, recognition, and collaboration for community-driven change across Tunisia and the region.

Grassroots Initiative
An advanced civic-reporting and neighborhood forum platform combining compliance, accessibility, and AI-powered accuracy. Citizens report issues through a fully automated process assisted by AI categorization and geolocation. The platform links city challenges to municipal departments as well as community resources beyond municipal scope, with public dashboards and heatmaps that help citizens prioritize needs and mobilize resources.
Wihda
Grassroots Initiative
A civic solidarity and mobilization platform designed to strengthen peer-to-peer local sharing and collective action. Wihda empowers neighborhoods to exchange resources, respond to everyday needs, and organize around local priorities, fostering a culture of civic trust, collaboration, and grassroots mobilization at the community level.
